Its simply not practical from a time/cost standpoint to list something like a mint 2149a single on ebay (time to scan, describe, upload to ebay, record sale, ship, not to mention the eBay/paypal fees).

I recently tried listing some mint modern US multi design blocks of 4 and got no takers. Did everyone already have them? Did I not list enough of them for someone to bother with an order? Were they priced too high (priced to net me a hair over face after allt the fees)? I don't know, but I'm not planning on wasting my time repeating this again anytime soon.

BidStart is much better for shopping at the low end of the price spectrum since their fees at that end are lower and they don't require a photo. Many sellers just list the Scott# with no photo and basically no description. For anything less than a few bucks, a simple Scott# and a price is all I really need anyway, assuming there is nothing unusual about the stamp.

On these modern stamps, you can pay more on shipping than the stamp is worth.

The best experience I've had with a seller by far that deals with modern stamps is "hobbiecar" on bidStart. The best experience for anything for that matter.

That's exactly why you want to find a dealer that has a lot of stamps you want so you can buy in bulk and combine shipping. I think it's insane to pay 3-5x more for shipping than for the stamp itself. That's what I was trying to do, filling in those last few holes that I've been ignoring, just to get them out of the way and I can focus on other things.

Great Cephus. Thanks for the feedback. I've recommended Murphy to a several people -- no complaints yet.

Unfortunately, Murphy tells me that he's retiring and no longer buying collections. When what he has now is gone, it's gone for good. Anyone interested ought to get in while the getting is good.
