Could some one advise on where to get and what type of stamp drying book to get.( I think that's what they are called ). My way of doing it worked for a few but it really sucks when you're doing a few hundred. Dianne

I use two Showgard Desert Magic II drying Books. They have had a very heavy workout and they do real well with any type of stamp. Just make sure they are fully dry before trying to take them out of the book.
I find that you will get a few tough ones that want to stick every now and then. However if you just let them dry they are easy to get off.
When I have an over flow issue I use wax paper that works just as well. |

I use a couple of the Desert Magic drying books, too. When using the wax paper method, I would open up a section of newspaper (horizontally at the fold), tear off a piece of wax paper long enough to cover the bottom half, place the stamps on it face up, cover with a paper towel, and bring the top half of the section over them. Some weight would be added to keep it flat but too much weight isn't good and can do funny things. |

Thanks guys Modern I actually use parchment paper because I Iron them flat between two peices. I know this method may seem weird but it worked for me. Dianne |

Dianne, wax paper is used since most stamps will not stick to it and those that do can be peeled away. Forgot to mention that you can get the Desert Magic drying books from dealers such a Subway Stamps. I found mine with a search on ebay a few years ago. |

Thanks again guys. So if I understand, and I can be thick sometimes, you use wax paper with the stamp drying books I just purchased 2 large Desert Magic drying books on ebay. Total came to $34.00 including exchange and shipping. John, to answer your question, a stamp drying book is a book made to place stamps in after you soak them. From what I know you place them in while they are still damp and they dry flat. Dianne |

Dianne, the wax paper is used instead of the drying book. The drying book has plasticized pages which serve the purpose the wax paper served. It's made up of these plasticized pages and blotters. You don't need the wax paper method with it. |

Oh Diane I could of gotten you a much better deal on those. And shipping would have been so cheap. The large ones should cost no more than $9 a piece and they should take that much to mail to you. |

One hint on the drying book, I load them up with stamps and they are in constant use. Make sure they are somewhere with a good airflow. If they take too long to dry they can mildew. |

Thanks Mk the price was actually 8 something US. It's the exchange that kills on everything . Postage I know once you get to a parcel gets crazy between countries. I Know I've sent lots of them. I just spent about 50 buck to send all those Silver dart covers. But I think it was worth it. Besides I just spent three hours ironing stamps can't wait for those stamp drying books. Dianne |

I use the newspaper method, and when the stamps are still a bit damp, I transfer to paper towels stamp side down, and into the microwave for ten seconds. [ works just fine, but not more than 10 seconds ]
Out of the nuke, onto wax paper gum side down, and flattened with the Citation Album |
