Your not going to believe it but my post office ran out of stamps! Yes you heard it right meters only today. Her order had not arrived and she had to put in an emergency order but was limited to only three requests for items.

I just found it funny and told her we better hope the emergency department still has employees.

But as stated it is just to easy to slap on a printed meter for the difference.

Not just the difference. Back when, if the clerk determined your item
would need, say, $4.68 in postage, he would mark that where the stamps
went, take your money, then take the next customer. Then when the line
was serviced, open his drawer, apply a pair of $2 stamps, a 50 cent stamp,
a 17 cent stamp and a 1 cent stamp or another combination totaling the
$4.68 based on what happened to be in his drawer. There just isn't need
for that kind of arsenal of stamps anymore.

If she runs out of labels or ink, you might have to resort to using your collection.

I like using the small denomination definitives on my letters. Those of you who have received packages from me probably think I'm a bit wacko with 8 or 10 stamps on an envelope. I even throw a bunch of extras on from time to time - my way of supporting a failing semi-governmental organization. I guess it's my stimulus package!
