Since I was 2 years old, every April I have put my hair in pigtails, put on my overalls and painted freckles on my face to atted the biggest festival in Ky. known as Hillbilly Days. Our town only has a population of 5,000 or so, but over 1 million people decend on us for this 3-day fesitval! Its a lot of fun, and all for a good cause. The proceeds go to the Shriner's Hospitals for children.

I just found out that there is a "Hillbilly Days" catchet! One of the founders designed it and is a stamp collector. If anyone has one of these or has seen one, let me know! It was a local issue,so I'm not sure if there's any outside of here. And our town used to do a Hillbilly days postmark! They don't do it anymore, so if anyone has one of these, let me know.

Wow, I thought there weren't hardly any collectors around here, and here we have our own cool postmark! I love this festival, lots of handmade items, great food, good music (bluegrass and country mostly), and you see everyone, and I mean everyone, in town! This fesitval is so huge that the courthouse and most offices shut down for Thursday and Friday.

You can check it out here:
http://www.hillbillydays.com/

and even watch it live, on webcam! On the left of that site, there are 5 different cams, you can watch it live. It really gets started about 5 pm.

Now, I'm off to go hillybillying, eat funnel cakes, buy some overpriced stuff, and try to find that collector!

Stefani,
Do you know what years they had the special event pictorial postmark? If so, you can go to the archived biweekly USPS postal bulletins and view the pictorial postmarks release to see an image.

I'm visualising that head on top of the stamp pyjamas.
Not a pretty sight.

Stephanie, I feel an attachment to Kentucky, as I believe you have a County named after Stephen Trigg (my name). He was a Colonel around the time of The American Revolution. Had a nasty death, he was quartered. Read more here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Trigg

You guys are so funny!

I didn't find the collector, it was like finding a needle in a haystack. But I did talk to several people that remembered the postmark, so one may come through for me.

Stephen, did you know that Trigg county had its own festival? Its called the Ham festival or something. I saw it on one of the sites I was checking about Hillbilly Days. You could do a grand tour, go get some ham and stop off here for some moonshine, lol!
