With all the normal hoopla regarding new stamp issues, I thought it would be good to poll the forum. Everyone has an opinion and everyone can not be pleased all the time. If it wasn't for differences our world would be a very boring place. I firmly believe that there is a place for all types of stamp collectors and it is HERE!

I generally collect mint stamps and the occasional FDC if the subject matter interests me. I also enjoy pictorial postmarks for events. |

I collect odd shaped stamps and stamps of animals, scenaries, vehicles, planes, ships, sports and flowers. I would prefer to trade with anyone regarding these topics. But I have to wait for sometime.till I get 50 stamps.:(:(

I would say the majority of my collecting interests are modern (less than 20 years). The break up of Yugoslavia since 1991 has created literally 10 different stamp issuing authorities, all of which I am interested in. |

I collect worldwide. It doesn't matter to me wether stamps are used or mint. A Stamp is a Stamp. |

Hi All,
I used to try to get all the new Issue USA stamps, but then it got way too expensive for me to keep doing that. I'd say I mainly try for used USA stamps for year 2000 onward, but will certainly take a mint stamp post year 2000 when I come across one, such as in a trade. I still do buy some new USA stamps, only if they appeal to me. Also I try get get a mint sheet of the multi design USA issues (like Star Wars) and also a used stamp of all the designs of that same sheet.

I usually buy the quarterly collections Canada Post puts out. It's a lot easier than waiting for the end of the year to get the year-end collection. The only other thing I buy are the mini-sheets if they are issued that way. |

I pretty much stick with only US, Guatemala and Israel. But with so many new issues, it is expensive to collect all the new Mint stamps available. |

I am very disillusioned with the USPS. For decades, they have put out crap stamps just to get collectors to buy them up. In 2000, I became so fed up that I vowed never to collect another unused stamp. Now, I only collect pre-2000 used US stamps. I also collect Czechoslovakia and Serbia used issues, too.
I actually prefer used stamps. They have character. They have fulfilled their duties. There is something about a cancellation that makes my stamp unique with none else like it in the world. |

I only collect the new U.S. issues that appeal to me, used. I collect ALL new issues of Costa Rica, used.

I collect some of the new stamps. There are some I see and say "You gotta be kidding me!" Some of the newer stamps are just not attractive at all. |

I only collect up to about 1990 for my mint U.S. and mint/used Guatemala collections.
I do collect issues to date for my used German collection. |

If by "new" you meant recent issues, I do it grudgingly. I think today's stamps are inferior in quality (material, adhesive type, reproduction method, subject matter) to those issued pre-1980 generally. Thanks for the poll, it was very interesting....I look forward to the next one. |
