It's still called StampWants.

There has been a new business arrangement. My understanding is that part of the reasons for the changes is an attempt to better isolate StampWants from the rest of the mish-mash that is (will be) BidStart. I know there have been some sellers complaining about the potential "garage sale" atmosphere when StampWants had expanded to coins, books, videos... in the past 2 years.

The StampWants regulars were aware that changes were planned. But we were caught by surprise, the extent of the changes. We were simply under the impression that it was primarily going to be software/server changes. It appears that more was brewing than we had expected.

The new server IS faster. However, as apparent from the above 2 posts, I think the StampWants administration is going to have to deal with the confusion that this is causing to both buyers and sellers.

It is a little confusing when you get emails that say the sender is Stampwants, but the title is BidStart item won, or recommended items from your favourite sellers on BidStart. They seem to be calling it Bistart now. And the logo at the top of the web page is BidStart, although in small letters it says the new home of Stampwants.

Of course the important thing to me is that the sellers and items available don't change. For a buyer, the site seems essentially unchanged, just a new logo at the top of the page. I don't sell on Stampwants, so I don't know how the changes effect them.

I would say that it is VERY confusing (regarding the BidStart emails/headers) if you didn't know much about it to begin with (which amounts to just about everybody, including myself).

The only affect on sellers has been some snafu's in listings and uploading due to the server change, and also a lot of consternation regarding the future impact of all this.

A number of people have already let the administrators there know how they feel about this.

For buyers, not much has changed after the initial software problems were worked out. But obviously the header/email modifications have generated confusion among buyers.

Image and brand name mean a lot in this day and age. I think I know what they are doing, but I would just be guessing beyond what has already been publicly stated. It's definitely a strange way of doing it.

I am told that they SW logo will return to it's prominence on the header, but that will be further down the To Do List. I guess they feel that the free advertisement/exposure for BidSmart was worth the confusion?

I've just been on for the first time in a couple of weeks and it was a little confusing at first. I don't see much real change as a buyer, though.

My watched items and items won carried through. I think I remember seeing an email that said they were going to put stamps on a different URL or maybe that was StampOffers. I'm so tired I can't think normally - whatever that is.

Yes, most of the technical difficulties were resolved within 24 hours. So if you don't spend all day on StampWants , you wouldn't have noticed anything other than the header/email/cosmetic changes. That also means you might have been confused by the sudden change, which is what happened to a number of people.

Good to see you back, Greg!
