very informative guys but would one of you discuss the big black dot that is used instead of traffic lights these days. it is a new phenomenon for indian stamps

er K. too bad if you really were a she you would have been of the market a long ago. I mean which guy can resist a girl that collects stamps :) dont get too worried we are stail waiting for your thread 701 phd level course did you find the specimens yet.

I remember in the UK, when I went shopping with Mum, there were Post Offices counters in two of the big stores in town. They looked rather cute if my memory serves me well.
Also, one could buy good selections of British and foreign stamps from many big stores and newsagents. Some even had small collectors corners !
Now there isn't one place to buy stamps in the whole of the town. Only the monthly stamp fair at the Chelmsford Stamp Club !
Even the Main Post Office [stuck inside a newsagents] does not sell anything other than Machins and Postage labels !

A sign of the times.
