Tom I just checked out my covers and found these the cleft hat variety and it's not to bad at all, this was on one cover also a closed "C" on two five cent stamps and tied to these are four three cent stamps one of which has a broken three talk about luck .
Had to hand hold the microscope as the covers were to big for the scope rest so a couple of photo's are a little bit fuzzy.

sorry mate I didn't mean to steal your thread

Harry.....

Great job with holding the scope....very decent pictures......and finding these varieties on cover is a nice prize. And don't worry about using this/any thread to show your pictures.......the hobby now depends on pictures especially now that we can show everything in color. Remember those worthless black & white lists of numbers & symbols that we used to use back in the stone age ?.......and we were expected to accept whatever was sent ! .....whether we liked it or not !

......one picture is worth a thousand words......not sure about everyone but, I prefer seeing the pictures.

Interesting 231 variety mate yes it would be nice to find one of these among the copies,I had a look around his shop and he's got a Scott #905b Fremont Ohio precancel with an APS cert that he claims is a rare color, though not Fremont I have three #905-71 precancels the same color .
