These sellers are selling since the beginning of time and they never run out of stocks. WHY??

Amos Publications the publisher run out of stocks but why these sellers don't?

see four yourself and decide. If these are original they should have stated it....

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=20...cat=0&bkBtn=

one seller on ebay too is selling a Frank BOOTLEG. I reported this to ebay 4 times since april 7 but they are not removing it.. why???

http://cgi.ebay.com/Scotts-2009-Sta...df_W0QQitemZ110512431282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item19bb0de0b2

many replicas including stamps and coins are being listed on ebay and tried to report them but why does ebay not removing those items?

May I know, are there special sellers?

The items at the first link could well be legitimate. The items at the second link certainly appear to be questionable, and the last two negative feedback entries for that seller reference a burned/copied item.

I would think ebay would take action on the second link. I'm pretty sure Scott/Amos would, if they knew about it. Why don't you try raising the issue with Amos?

Personally, I think I would avoid a seller who includes "hacker" in his or her i.d. (unless, of course, I was seeking out counterfeit items; then I would consider it a plus).

I'll tell you why and you're not gonna like it.

Who are you to accuse someone of fraud without proof?
Why should ebay believe you? Who are you?

"eBay, this guy is selling bootlegs"

"OK great! Thanks! We'll kill all his auctions and ban him immediately"

Do you think that's the way it works?

Scuby is correct. ebay has to do a thorough investigation first.

Last year I was suprised to see some Tuvalu Postcards on ebay with familiar photographs. Sure enough, the photos were stolen from one of my websites. I contacted the seller and he claimed he bought them from a "source". I contacted ebay and they did investigate, and after about two weeks the items were removed (the seller kept putting up more after they sold).

The seller (in Portugal) has hundreds of other postcards from obscure places, and I am quite sure many of them are stolen images. They often sell for rather high prices.

Wow, stories like that just make me want to run and hide from the online world... the things people won't do to steal other people's money.

Am I the only one who is just-ever-so-slightly-suspicious of a first-post newbie who starts with a rant like that?

Sheesh, at least say hello first!

Truth be told, I didn't realize it was his first post until you just mentioned it. I agree with you, not a real positive start!

As long as there is value to an item there will be people whom will defraud others via bootlegs, fakes, replicas, counterfeits, forgeries, and facsimiles. This has gone on since the beginning.

I think ebay would let the item remain for sale until an investigation has been completed and if the item description says it is a copy they will not take it down.

I would bring it to the attention of Amos/Scott the owners of the copyrighted material and intellectual properties. They have the legal means to straighten this out.

BTW, welcome stampcollector007. What do you collect? Tell us about yourself. Interesting forum name, could it translate to stamp collector spy via a James Bond reference?

007 - the SCF is a large diverse family. Like any family, when one of the daughters brings in a new boyfriend the Dad isn't going to trust the boy until he gets to know him.

We love having new members but are suspicious when they come in with guns blazing.

Tell us about yourself and chime in on some threads and you'll get a much better reception.

I have commented before on the prevalence of pirated 2007 Scott CDs.

The ones that have the entire set on 2 discs, guaranteed to be pirated.

Don't assume when they say "shrink-wrapped" that it is genuine. The shrink wrap material for the pirated CDs is not the same as for the genuine CDs. However, if you have never purchased directly from Amos, you probably would not notice the difference.

Also, don't assume it's genuine if it has a nice color label on the CD. Genuine CDs are not made on those blank CD-R's that you buy at the retail stores. Genuine CDs are imprinted/cast in place, not burned into a blank.

Most (not all) of the 2007 Scott CDs in the online auctions (not just ebay) are pirated. Demand to know their source. Buying a sealed boxful from someone is not a "source". As you may have noticed the sales have been brisk and the money sales prices have not been trivial amounts. That's sales that Scott NEVER had because their original selling price was too ridiculously high. Scott hasn't learned their lesson. Instead of spending all that money on lawyers and copy-protection, they should just drop their prices to the $50-$100 dollar level for the entire CD set. Their loss is not due to piracy, their loss is due to their own pricing stupidity.

My favorite bootleg version of the 2007 Scott CD is one for the Classic Specialized. It's exceptionally well done, so well done I didn't catch it at first. What gave it away? In the spine of the jewel box, it says:

"SCOTT 2007 GLASSIC SPECIALIZED CATALOGUE 1840-1940 CD"

To avoid any misunderstanding, I am totally against pirated software. I own legal licensed software from Scott/Amos. Because of my interest in distinguishing fake/forged/altered stamps, I likewise have an interest in distinguishing pirated philatelic software. That's what I meant by my "favorite bootleg" -- I actually was not happy about discovering it at all, and gave the seller an opportunity to explain and make amends.
