Hello,
Good Evening, have two questions for all of you out there.
I was wondering if there is a place to see what new stamps might be coming out.
Also, I have Simpsons and Star Wars stamps and like comic book as well as cartoon type stamps. I wonder if anyone can tell me if there are any recent ones which aren't too expensive which I could pick up.
Thanks to all and have a great day.

It may be a good idea to mention your country of residence in order to get a better recommendation. It is one thing to buy a single stamp at a local post office and another matter entirely to aquire it from half way around the world. Lizardly, halflizard

Hello hairygrapeape, welcome. I think you probably want the ordering page at USPS. Go to www.usps.com and click on the stamps (I think). From what I hear on here a lot of newer stamps are not always carried at the local Post Offices and you do have to buy them from the USPS ordering center (which is located in am actual cave somewhere I do believe.) Plus a bit of shipping charge. |

I want to thank you for providing the website address above. The first topic I searched for was, of course, lizard. What I am wondering is if the WADP numbering system will become accepted by collectors. We can accurately guess the opinions of the assorted catalogue publishers throughout the world, can't we? More than once I have wondered how many stamps live in my collection that have never been in their supposed country of origin. Surely dozens if not hundreds. Lizardly, halflizard
If your slogan is better than mine, I will steal it from you.

On July 16 the USPS will be releasing a sheet of 20 stamps titled "Sunday Funnies" that will have 5 different designs of more contemporary comic strip characters such as "Calvin and Hobbes". |

This is the same as asking which came first, the chicken or the egg. Here we have the possibility of starting an endless discussion which can never be resolved. Tonga has issued some stamps with a turtle watermark. Are there any stamps with a lizard watermark? Lizardly, halflizard

Are you just collecting US stamps or world wide? You could expand your collection from just mint stamps to used and First Day Covers.
For the US there is the Looney Tunes series, comic strip classics, Marvel & DC comic book heroes, the Superman stamp, Disney series, and a few others I'm forgetting about right now.
As for world wide: Cartoons/Animation/Comic Books could make a decent Topical collection. |

One of the stamps in that set features Dennis the Menace. Great Britain has also issued a Dennis the Menace design, but they have a completely different character who happens to share the same name. In the pre-internet days, I was quite confused over this ... (For the record, both characters were introduced in 1951 - the U.S. version came first by 3 days!) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis...ace_%28UK%29http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis...e_%28U.S.%29Ryan |

In 1995 Canada issued a booklet of Canadian comic heroes (yes, Superman was "invented" in Canada). |

Thanks BC. That is a nice set of stamps as well.
Who knew that Superman was Canadian and not Kryptonian? Actually, I did know he was invented in Canada. I think I learned that from a TV program, more than likely on the History Channel. |
