Vario pages don't add glare at all. I scan all stamps (well, 90%) in Vario pages.

The only time they might is if the article scanned was bulky and lifted up off the glass a bit in places, along with the Vario page.

Otherwise, they are see-through (when clean of fingerprints etc).

Sheet protectors may be made of a different type of plastic and have different qualities.

I scan with Vario pages, or the white 102 cards with the black background. The Vario page gives the better result. Purer black backgrounds, no interference from the "clear."

1. Yes, but only started in the last year or so.
2. I use the tongs all the tme now, not so much because of the value of the stamps, but because of the athritis starting in my big fat hands.
3. I have only tried one type of tong, same as type d in the previous photo. I am not real happy with them as they tend to open up again if you press to hard and the stamp falls out.
4. One

1. Do you use stamp tongs?
Yes
2. Are there stamps you would work with without stamp tongs?
Pretty much only if they are going for postage. For the collection, the tongs are like an extension of the hand. It just seems easier to treat each stamp like it's a gem and seems that the more I use the tongs, the more natural they feel...
3. What is your favorite style/size of stamp tong. 4. How many tongs to you own.
I have a pair of Lighthouse Bent Spade-Tip Stamp Tongs Pi 22. Thinking about getting a pointed tip set, but afraid of damaging a stamp. These set I have is fairly thin, but it can get tricky trying to pick stamps up at times...

I want to thank everyone who took the time to answer my questions. It was fun learning about other people's philatelic practices.
