I once met a missionary in Wisconsin who worked in Nagaland. The ethnic background of some of the tribes there appears far more east Asian and they look quite distinct from one might think of as an Indian. In fact they look downright Mongolian or Korean with bright faces, rosy cheeks and high cheekbones.

The missionary told me that Nagaland is a very dangerous place to be. Naga society consists of a tribal culture with tribes of many diverse practices and beliefs. Sounds fascinating!

Yes, it makes one bite one's tongue,

I do agree, most Nagaland <are> wallpaper,
but for the genuine philatelist from that country
it is going to be a while to live down the labels
perpetuated, I believe, originally from the US.

I have a nice image somewhere of the Indian states,
I'll try and dig it up, showing Nagaland.

I, myself quite like wallper. My friends at our local stamp club call stamps from Poland and Hungary Walllpaper. Some of those stamps are among my favorites and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

You must update your map, Rodney. Several new states have been added since then. India's almost back to the state it was in in the good old days of the British Raj!

There's a good one here:

That's a great map Tony,
I'll keep the other one as it's current to the time of the stamps.
