I don't know if I'm doing Jubilee a kindness by pointing this out, but Grosvenor Auctions in London (www.grosvenorauctions.com) have a rather impressive lot of War Tax stamps and other things coming up on the 6-7 October. It also includes some British Guiana Cottonreels - if you have a lazy £6000-£7000 sitting around. Though there is an el cheapo one at a trifling £1800-£2000. |

Quote: Perhaps this is the first time that the Post Office/Royal Mail has illustrated a stamp on a stamp using a stamp which didn't exist? Someone has made a great error.
No error. As Douglas Muir explained in the British Philatelic Bulletin, "The Re-engraved dies by JAC Harrison were very much better in terms of reproduction for the 2010 Kings Stamps M/S even though the £1 value was not issued re-engraved" Londonbus100 |

Here is a cleaner scan, literally...I didn't pay enough attention to the carrier I used for the first scan... This is just black and red on yellow paper. In person, the yellow is more lemony. The chalk-surfaced paper affects the colors a bit, I'd say. |

This thread needs a bump. Early on in my time here, I mentioned that I like the various one-shilling issues of George V, and someone asked, "why not the 6d's?" Here are two, just for kicks... I have nothing against the 6d issues... One is centered a little high, the other a little low...averaged together, almost perfect... |
