Why would these stamps be mailed from every little Podunk post office around the state? For example, Waratah seems to have been relatively tiny for a long time. Apparently, it was associated with a mining operation. Would government officials use these stamps to post letters in their travels, visits, inspections, whathaveyou? Or does it imply a government office of some sort in each town? (Obviously there is some sort of post office outlet, or there wouldn't be a cancel in the first place.) Am I overthinking this?
