I collect most of California's Redwood Empire , Humboldt & Mendocino counties, including the RPOs that ran through them. Any town or city I mention is located in one or the other.
My primary sources are
California Town Postmarks 1850 - 1935 compiled by John H. Williams & the Western Cover Society
Mobil Post Office Society RPO Catalog, MPOS U. S. Route and Station Agent Catalog, and the MPOS RPO Directory and AGT Directory
California Postmaster Compensation compiled by Alan H. Patera

June 20

1901 - Belize, British Honduras to London, England

A registered letter with two directives: "Via New Orleans" then "Via New York".

The address is High Road / Milburn / London NW.

The stamps on the letter were issued (2-cents postage & postage) in 1891 and (5-cents postage & revenue) in 1899. They are respectively numbers 32 & 44 in the Stamp World online catalogue.

and

1922 - Georgetown, Grand Cayman to Matanzas, Cuba

Postage was paid using a postal stationery envelope with a 2½ penny floral indicium.
I checked out Hugo Ziegler in google only to find one reference in a 1923 Cuban philatelic pamphlet stating that he was a subscriber.
I also wondered about the route the letter may have taken getting to its destination. Pure speculation on my part but below the map shows a guess.

1. Georgetown, Cayman Islands to Kingston, Jamaica by sea
2. Kingston. Jamaica to Havana, Cuba by sea
3. Havana to Matanzas overland.

I will watch for a registered letter from that period to see what the routing really was back then.

and finally

1959 - St. Pierre & Miquelon to Toronto, Canada

Hotel Robert answers a client's inquiry as the tourist season warms up. The hotel built in the 1920's famously had Al Capone as a guest. The hotel still exists today.

The 20-franc stamp was issued in 1947. (SW.C # 366)
The pair of 3-franc stamps issued in 1955 shows a refrigeration plant. (SW.C #377)

Good morning, two today.

Upper Matole, although this office was opened Dec 1, 1871 and closed 72 years later on Apr 30, 1943, it was never a really busy office. Patera's Postmaster Compensation only lists reports up until 1911 when the office reported it's highest earnings of $140.00. Compensation reports were filed in "odd" numbered years, so 1883 was $50.29 and 1885 was $56.68
This is Upper Matole's 3rd (of 9) postmark, their 2nd "fancy"(double ring, serifed lettering) postmark. California Town Postmarks 1850 - 1935 records it's usage from Jul 24, 1888 to Mar 26, 1894. Coming up in Aug, I'll show an 1883 strike of this postmark.

Willits & San Fran. RPO,
