Hello everyone,

Season's Greetings, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah (whichever greeting works for you).

This is the earliest philatelic item I own and from my home town.

Back in the days when Victoria didn't exist, Geelong was part of New South Wales!

1961

Australia's 1961 Christmas stamp, a beautiful 5-penny issue printed in a rich, sepia-toned brown. The design was unique: it featured an open prayer book, showcasing an illumination from the 15th-century Wharncliffe Hours manuscript housed in the National Gallery of Victoria.

Thank you Wintertime - an interesting story to breathe life into that stamp.

It's amazing what AI can do now - I guess that one day we won't know if the contributors on forums are real or if we are chatting to an army of AI 'collectors'!

You are correct, Fairdinkumstamps. AI is becoming quite powerful. I was just playing around with it, but I am not quite satisfied. I plan to continue with stories around stamps. But I will write the future stories completely by myself. AI is a tool, but it tends to take too much control for me. By the time I keep adjusting the parameters, I could have written it myself. Thanks for taking a look.

1960

This issue is particularly interesting in its dual purpose. While released for the holiday season as the "Christmas 1960" issue, it was simultaneously designed to commemorate the then upcoming 350th anniversary of the King James Bible (originally published in 1611).
