1960 - Island of St. Helena to Corvallis, Oregon, USA

A selection of low value stamps from the first Elizabethan issue from 1953.

1937 - Guaira, Venezuela to Aruba, Dutch West Indies

A registered letter and the A.H. stands for las Antillas Holandesas.

1946 - Pearl Harbor, Navy Yard to New York City

In 1946, US Navy 10954 BR (Branch 10954) was located at the Navy Yard in Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii.

Equally interesting is the addressee. Knox hat business was established by an Irish immigrant in 1838. The business did disappear in the 1960's when hats were not so much in fashion.

A print ad containing the address shown on the letter coming from Hawaii. It was a different era.

1934 - Paris, Gare P.L.M. to Philadelphia, PA

Celebrating the 145th. Anniversary of the storming of the Bastille. The letter was postmarked at Paris - Gare P.L.M., (Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée)
The station sits on the Right Bank of the Seine River, right next to the lively Bastille district. Originally inaugurated in 1847 for the Paris-Lyon railway, it was later expanded and became the iconic headquarters and primary northern terminus for the PLM line heading toward southeastern France and the French Riviera.

1989 - Paris, France to Davao City, Philippines

A first day cover commemorating the bicentennial of the French Revolution.

2020 - Monument Beach, MA

In the midst of Covid-19, a souvenir (hand-back?) card/cover is produced to mark the French National Holiday and the related Les Miserable theatre play.

Morning folks, fun morning here. While checking the images files I found two postcards I missed yesterday.

Ukiah, posted 7/13/2015, from a photo album I wish had never been produced!

Ukiah,

Four
a Missent Ukiah, but unmarked. You needed to know where the towns are to see that this was missent. Covelo is 65 miles north of Ukiah and Cloverdale is 29.4 miles south of Ukiah. Posted 7/14/2017.

Fieldbrook,

Northspur,

and Covelo.

To all the posters in this group and especially, littleriverphil, I wish to state what I like about your postings. 1, I love reading the messages on the postcards when they are legible. 2, I always, liked reading about California, and the focus here on northern California just broadens my horizon of that state. 3. The postmarks. 4. The addressing of the cards and covers - some being so beautifully written and others leave me wondering how the post office was ever able to decipher the script. 5. Some simple but seldom seen items explaining how life was way back when. Thank you all.

1942 - St. Pierre & Miquelon to Ottawa, Canada

Registered mail with hard to find FRANCE LIBRE overprints.

1933 - Round the world - NYC to NYC

What first attracted me to this cover was the well-designed yellow stamp with well-struck postmarks. Wittnauer sponsored the pilot Wiley Post on many of his pioneering flights. The flight left New York on July 15 and returned in, what was then, record time on August 3. The address on the envelope, almost impossible to read is the same as the Fifth Avenue address as the senders' .
