An ebay purchase of a 1908 vintage Belfast post card sent to Glasgow. Franked with a half pence KEVII stamp.

This week was a jackpot. First, received six covers with cachets from different stamp clubs/organizations of the 30's. According to Fields-Picklo some organizations did cachets rather than discrete labels or stickers. Two, got a matchbook cover from the Society of Philatelic Americans (SPA). No date but it makes a nice addition to my Cinderella collection. Last, but not least, A partial set of six Peckmore prints, done on a larger 10.25 x 7.5 inch page format and each is signed in pencil by Peckmore..

I got 2 packages from a friend in the UK relating to Machins. Got another package of Israel singles.

Today I received this cover that I've been waiting for. I have a pretty nice Great Britain collection, and, after acquiring almost everything I can reasonably afford (there are some that I will NEVER be able to afford) I've been acquiring other stuff, like as many of the Victoria era stamps on cover as I can find. This one is the last of the three embossed issues, Scott 5-7, this one being Scott 6. I already had the other two. It was fairly pricy, but not outrageous, and was a long time in transit, because, and I didn't notice it until I'd paid for it, the dealer was in Ukraine, Kharkiv, to be precise. So after clicking "buy" I started worrying a little, thinking of possible scenarios given what's going on in Ukraine these days, most of the scenarios I thought of involved bombs and drones blowing up the post office or the sorting office! But with excellent tracking information, I was very relieved to note that the package had finally arrived in Southern California, but was equally frustrated that it still took another 4 days to travel the final 30 miles. The stamp itself has two good margins, a "marginal" third margin and a fourth that cuts into the design just a bit, so a decent example and better than a lot of Scott 6's I see.I was also very pleased to see the two silk threads running from top to bottom showing that it's a genuine stamp and not a postal stationery cutout, these were very difficult to see on the dealer's ad. So, all in all very pleased with my purchase

A few years ago I started a thread on this forum which featured examples of where a dealer had mistakenly sent you the wrong stamp and it ended up being in your favor because the one they sent was much more valuable than the one they thought they were sending. I couldn't find that thread so I'm posting this here. Postage due stamps are probably the least glamorous category of stamps that I can think of. They are strictly utilitarian, and so don't need to look good, and in most cases, they don't. Still, for the sake of completeness, sometimes you need them to fill spaces in your album. In trying to complete my France collection up until about 1970, I've lately turned my attention to the very sparse postage due section in my Lindner albums. A few weeks back I started looking for a copy of Scott J65, the 2 franc olive brown stamp from the 1927-31 set. I came upon this beauty and the asking price was $2.75 against a Scott catalogue value of $26, and even that would have been a good deal, but, apparently the dealer didn't notice the "Andorre" overprint, making this stamp French Andorra J14, with a catalogue price of $225, (more for a used example than an unused one) so. a great bargain.

Today, the 2025 Valores en el Tiempo book with the stamps I ordered from Correos under two weeks ago arrived.
