I've examined this 2400 dpi scan and keep seeing what appears to be the profile of a small dog or terrier. However, I'm not convinced it isn't simply pareidolia from an irregular cork strike.
Before I talk myself into something that isn't there, has anyone seen this cancel before or have another strike from the same device? I'm especially interested in comparable examples rather than opinions based solely on the silhouette.
I've checked Cole's, "CANCELLATIONS AND KILLERS OF THE BANKNOTE ERA 1870 - 1894", and the fancy cancels on StampSmarter but couldn't find anything.
Thank you all for any input!
