I have seen "facsimiles" of these for sale on ebay but I can't tell them apart from those being sold as authentic. Does anyone here know how to tell the real from the fake sheets?

In 1952, H.L. Peckmore & Son engraved and printed this ornate Liberian souvenir sheet (Scott #C69a) for the Jehudi Ashmun series. The sheet measures roughly 8½" × 10" and features the full series, with inset vignettes in black.



This is probably my favorite engraved souvenir sheet and it would have required at least 7 passes through an intaglio press, possibly more.

Peckmore experimented with other colors for the frame, including blue and green, but settled on black. Here is a progress proof and an example of the blue frame (which I actually prefer).
