Do You Collect Hungarian Philately With A Judaic Focus?

About Hungarian philately and Judaic focus: I have a collection of items from Hungary about Esperanto. It has about 20 items, mainly commemorative postmarks and PC's. I can send scans of them.

We have people here who collect and can show Hungary postal material . Then are you asking about Jewish postal material in Europe ? Or are you asking about Jewish material in the Holyland pre-independance .

While you are working on getting your 50 posts here, you might want to review the website for the Society of Israel Philatelists. This group is based in the US but has members from around the world, and is one of the more active of the Israel/Judiaca societies.

Go to their contact page and describe your interest. It make take a while for them to route your request to the right individual, so be very clear when describing the specific types of information you are seeking.

There used to be a Israel/Holyland philatelic organization based in Israel (I was a member for many years) but I believe it eventually disbanded - I know they discontinued their publication. Perhaps LaoPhil can provide details since I believe he is based there.

You also might want to contact Tobias Zywietz, who edits a publication called the Middle East Philatelic Bulletin.

Here you can both review his most current issue and the earlier ones - there may be articles there that are relevant to your interest, and his contact information is published in the bulletin and you can contact him. He may have a correspondent or writer who had information of value to your interst.

You are into an area that was never part of my philatelic interests with Israel so I am sorry I can be of no direct assistance.

I think you'd characterise your interest as "postal history", but genuine postal history which, in the main, has nothing to do with postage stamps and goes back into the distant past.
