I don't collect Canadian stamps or covers, but I got these king Edward stamped envelopes in an odd lot. I don't know the scott number for it or if there are varieties. I think I have 2 varieties. One embossed and the other not. I checked with thin foil and no embossing. Back view taken as well.
The embossed example on the left in your pic is Unitrade U35 (#8 envelope) or U35a (#10 envelope), value unused $12 and $7.50 respectively. The unembossed example on the right is U24, value unused $7.
Thanks Rodcam. So they made un unembossed varieties. I never seen that in US stamped envelopes. Is there an online source I can go to to get other values? I have few other different envelopes. They all are entires. These are U35a.
I now see from doing some research that this green stamped envelope might be an essay? At least thats what AI is saying but it took many prompts to get there!
There's a family resemblance, but King Edward VII is balder than his son, King George V. This doesn't help with the surprisingly crude unembossed head, which to me suggests George Bernard Shaw whistling.
In both the second pair of images, the 2 looks to me to be serif, not sans-serif (alias block). The serifs are the curl at the top left and the tail at the bottom right.
