The fact that everyone is powerless to change anything also shows a fundamental weakness in the whole process. It enables this kind of sham to occur, and it will again unless something is done to make it much more difficult. I would love to know exactly why no one thought it prudent to speak up about this at the time, but that is never going to happen.  |

It's a change in Dallas, which involves foreign material, but I doubt anyone will notice much difference. |

This is all about consignor relationships. Who has the bigger contact list with high-net-worth individuals. You can see this happening with Kelleher since Prager came on board. The material has gone decidedly upscale and there is a lot of it. They are all competing for the same whales, guys like Bart.  |

Alas, I am far from a whale. I do get to see a fair amount of whale type material every year, but just to look at.  |

Heritage has failed at stamps before, if I recall. (or at least it didn't make enough impact for Heritage to continue investing in it).
They (Heritage) do have a very high volume business in other collectibles and were pioneers in auto-hammer auctions. Their platform is good, and I am a regular Heritage buyer on the coin side and a few times in art auctions. |

So with Tracy there what happens to Golden Oak?
edit: This is an interesting move and I definitely look forward to seeing how it goes. They have had a lot of success with this team previously, so, it should be interesting. I wish them good luck. |

Just visited their siter. They have an auction on Oct 2.
Their Out Team page list 3 people. No mention of Tracy. |

Sure, Golden Oak wasn't a big player in the higher echelon of auctions, but they had a solid niche in the middle territory. After Harmer Schau left the scene, Golden Oak became one of my favorites for the quality and diversity of affordable items.
When Tracy called the auctions, I always found her to be cheerful and efficient. I know this thread was about Charles Shreve, but with Tracy joining Heritage at the same time, it seems like Heritage has big plans to get back into Stamps. As I was initially wondering, the move for Charles was not just to land a bigger expense account and coast to retirement. Best wishes to them both, I look forward to their first catalog in 2027. |
