rod222, do you know
of any good sites about Mouchon? I'd also heard briefly about him.
Who are your favourites and your favourite
stamps?
When I try to do that for Slania, I have a very hard time as I consider them all beautiful! Each one, in their own has something different from the others that makes them unique, providing something I can't find in the other
stamps.
I was also amazed to know the old Portuguese money was designed and engraved by Slania as well. And his influence on others is evident in Sweden (for example Martin Mörck, who continues engraving and continues to show this beautiful art).
Here are a few examples (pictures from Swedish Post Museum, not scans, although I have them):
The largest engraved stamp - 2000

1986 Stockholmia 86 series 5

During the 70s, Sweden Posten issued a wide range
of 5 vertically stripped rectangular
stamps with images
of Swedish landscapes, cities and other aspects. Slania was the engraver for most. Below is the 1980 example
of Halsingland. Simply beautiful. I also posted 2 Sailing boats in another thread from one
of these series.

Another perfect example
of Slania mastery is the 1979 Gota Canal set:

The 1975 Ballet stamp that was re-made this year by Swedish post:

1973 Towards Remote Destinations:

1973 In Dalecarlia:

Just a taste
of Swedish delights from Slania.
Hope this post isn't too long.
