I guess no one has any SPORTS stamps around here! I am having scanner trouble--hubby got so disgusted with it that he just walked out of the room. Maybe I can borrow some pics. It's a shame because I have some great Australian sports stamps that Triggersmob sent me that I want to share! Gussyboy1 Image Insert: |

I am a bit surprised this thread hasn't seen a bit more traffic, but maybe that's because there's so many interesting topical threads going now. (Thanks Gussyboy1, I think we can safely blame you for this. ) Here are couple baseball stamps. The first is from 1939 and celebrates the centennial of baseball (Scott #855). The second is from 1969 and celebrates the centennial of professional baseball (Scott #1381). I guess that means that it took a mere 30 years for baseball to catch on so much that people could make a career out of playing the game. |

And since we're on the topic of centennials, 1991 was the centennial of basketball. This is Scott #2560. |

Cycling stamps ,of the more odd stamps one of the stamps depicts Paraolympic cycling and another depicts a letter carrier using a Bicycle John a Magnifier will not work, this lens is kind of like a Lenticular postcard with many lenticular lines ,the USPS came out with the decoder lens in the late 90's , you can still pick them up at some post offices, strange that I couldn't find it online at the USPS |
