MORE nice additions! Regarding Salem MA, the story linked to above is actually nearby to the card's location, near the current MBTA trackage. The area shown in the card is just a road now, with tracks underneath: http://binged.it/1689f7k |

The Lake of Bays Railrad Limited would make a great model railroad study / theme. Passengers and freight, wharfs, steamer ships, great scenery. |

I agree Puzzler
Oddly enough, since it has been rejuvenated, I have not gone up to take the trip. The location is only about 16 miles (28 KM) North of me.
I will post other cards as time permits.

stampfan9 - I love your Union Station! I grew up in Chicago and so enjoy seeing the "old" places on post cards. Thanks for sharing this one... Your post card is even cooler because of the "Fred Harvey" on the building! So what's the date, if any on this card?

Kathey, Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately it is unused with no date noted. |

Useless fact for the day: Everyone always likes to say "Union Station", or "Grand Central Station". Thing is, not every one of these massive stations should be called that. In fact, many are/were TERMINALS. The tracks stopped/started there, they didn't go "though" or "past". I didn't know this until I became a railfan. Now I know better..... BUT "taxi to the station" sounds a lot nicer than "taxi to the terminal"!
