On February 20, 2010 Lithuania issued this 2.15 litas stamp (Sc #912) as a part of its municipal coats of arms series. Stamp depicts the arms of Varena, in Alytus County in the southern part of the country. Arms show a bee and blossoms, perhaps indicating that beekeeping is popular in the area. "Most of the municipality is covered by forests and swamps (wikipedia)."  |

The bee image has long been associated with financial saving. Here is an old letter seal of the Schluckenau, Bohemia Savings Bank. Schluckenau is now Sluknov, Czech Republic. From wikipedia, "Sluknov is the northernmost town of the Czech Republic in its Usti nad Labem Region."  |

Here is a pictorial first day cancel on the 5 and 20 pf values (Mi #s 3295, 3297) of the DDR's January 9, 1990 Honey Bee set of 4. Inscription on cancel says, "Beekeeping in the DDR".  |

On April 15, 2019 Ireland issued this 'N' (one euro, 1st class domestic letter rate on date of release) stamp depicting a tawny mining bee (Andrena fulva). From wikipedia, "The tawny mining bee is an European species of the sand bee (Andrena) genus...In Ireland, it is known only from County Kilkenny, and may be regionally extinct there.".   |
