Thanks. Still a relatively early use for a slogan cancel that was used through the 1940's. It seems to me that airmail was still in its infancy in 1926. |

I like the Citizens' Military Training Camps one. This was an attempt by the US government at creating a body of citizens (men) that would be combat capable with an eye toward recruiting them. The program didn't last long as participation rates lagged somewhat, and only a rather small percentage of camp participants joined up with the military. |

I agree that United Way logo looks "spacey" but in reality it's supposed to depict a feather (actually a red feather).
The evolution of that organization started with the Community Chest, later changed to the Red Feather Society, then the United Fund, and finally the United Way, as it is known today. The slogan cancel is supposed to depict the combined Red Feather and United Way logo. I think some local United Ways still use the term "Red Feather" to identify certain levels of donors. |

OH! Thanks wt1, I had no idea of the history of the United Way. Now I see the feather. Here I thought it was some futuristic depiction, like an atom or a planet or something (although how that would relate to the United Way I have no idea). Always learning from stamps! |
