The stamp stamps of the Stamp Company were issued in 1876 with the names of all the Spanish provinces. The effigy of the center represents the Kingdom of Spain. As it can be seen, it lacks face value, since its function was to be attached to the head of the new sheets and to provide proof that the postage stamps and the policies supplied to the tobacconists by the Stamp Company were authentic. They were printed in the United States by the state-owned American Bank Note Company. http://www.stampcircuit.com/stamp-A...spain-and-ex https://www.todocoleccion.net/sello...jo~x52585488
Giving this a bump, after coming across it looking for info on these. I'm still not sure I understand their purpose. One correction: American Bank Note Company was *not* state-owned, it was a fully commercial entity.
