Angel, 19th century, designed by Polish artist Stefan Malecki (1924-2012), printed by lithography, and issued by Poland on December 19, 1969 as one of a set of eight stamps depicting religious-themed folk sculptures, Scott No. 1705.

Here is an image of a semi-postal (charity) stamp depicting a Rococo angel from the Ursuline Sisters' Convent in Innsbruck, Austria, designed by Netherlands-born Canadian artist Erna de Vries, printed by lithography, and issued for use in Germany (West Berlin) on November 12, 1970 for Christmas, Scott No. 9NB78, Michel No. 378.

My favorite Christmas stamp (1968, US #1363) shows the angel Gabriel from the painting "The Annunciation" by Jan van Eyck. The painting is in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. The stamp was designed by designed by Robert J. Jones.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting the Annunciation from a triptych (1871) at Askeby Church, Östergötland, designed by L. Karlsson, combined engraved by Piotr Naszarkowski and lithography, and issued by Sweden on November 11, 1994 as one of a set of two Christmas stamps, Scott No. 2105, Facit No. 1871.

"The Annunciation," designed by Ursula Kühne after a painting by Joseph Walser, combined engraved by Austria artist Wolfgang Seidel (1946- ) and photogravure, and issued by Liechtenstein on December 6, 1999 as one of a set of three Christmas stamps, Scott No. 1160.

Here is an image of a postal tax stamp depicting an angel playing a bowed stringed instrument, designed after a fresco (1480) by Italian Renaissance painter and architect Melozzo da Forlì (c. 1438-1494), printed by photogravure, and issued by Costa Rica in 1962 as one of a set of four Christmas stamps benefiting Ciudad de los Niños ("Children's City"), Scott No. RA14, plus an image of the original work of art from the Vatican picture gallery.

Three angels, designed and combined engraved by Jean De Vos and photogravure after original artwork by Early Netherlandish painter Rogier van der Weyden (aka Roger de la Pasture, c. 1399-1464), and issued by Belgium on November 15, 1975 for Christmas, Scott No. 940.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting an angel from a 13th century A.D. fresco in the Grotto of Penteli, printed by lithography, and issued by Greece on October 7, 1985 as one of four stamps in a set commemorating Athenian cultural heritage, Scott No. 1534.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting an illumination of The Annunciation from the workshop of Italian artist Neri da Rimini (fl. 1300-1322), designed by Franco Filanci, and issued by San Marino on November 6, 1995 to publicize an exhibition of Italian manuscripts at the Free Library of Philadelphia, Scott No. 1341, plus an image of the original work of art.

Some beautiful angels by the Italian Renaissance painter Fra Angelico appear on these Christmas commemoratives from San Marino, 1987.
