Hi, haven't forgotten about this thread, I was enjoying it....
Here are scans of a few new ones I recently picked up.
The first is a Dakota Territory (March 2,1861 through November 2, 1889)item. Front cancelled Casselton, Dakota January 13, 1888 and a rear cancel for Fargo, Dakota on the same day.

Here is another New Mexico Territory (September 1850 through Jan 1912) item. This is from Silver City, cancelled March 25 1886. It has an interesting message dealing with a legal case on the rear..

And lastly.. I know the Hawaii Territory covered a long period of time, even into a lot of out lifetimes, but I came across this item that I found of interest (to me), primarily the cancel.
This is a "First Day" cancel of UX10, October 1, 1946 (side note... 15 days before I was born-yes I am an old coot). The Fleet PO cancel is a nice one.

Hope these may be of interest to some...

t360 .... Nice Okla Terr postcard as well as flag cancel, but that is a whole 'nother collectable. I only have 1 Oklahoma item, Guthrie OK 1899. Envelope has seen better days!..
It is nice to see items one doesn't have.. Keep them coming.

I thought this cover was worth slugging it out for. It wasn't cheap but it could have cost me a lot more if it wasn't on eBay. The stamp is a Scott #25 with double right side perfs.

The covers shown on this thread are truly impressive. I have one here from Fort Simcoe, Wash. Territory, May 1886 to North Yakima. Fort Simcoe was an army fort prior to the civil war but by 1886 had been turned over to the Dept of Interior, Indian affairs. You can click on the image to get a larger view. Now when I was growing up in Yakima that was the way it was spelled, but I see on this that the spelling was Yakama. Yakima the city is still spelled with the i, but the tribe changed their name back to Yakama.

When I visit my old home town, I do try to visit the Yakama casino, not too far from the old fort, so that I can atone for the transgressions committed against the tribe in those days. So far the slot machines have let me atone for quite a bit.

Thought I'd would throw in one to Germany. Montana became a state in 1889. Nice receiving postmark on the reverse from Hanover-Linden. Does anyone know if 8 cents is the correct rate?

To make up for my last bad post, I added a Colorado. This time I think I have it right.

northernvirginiaguy, a little info on the Colorado Territory cover. It is from Mountain City (Gilpin county) Colorado Territory. Mountain City was located just a few miles west of Black Hawk. The post office was open from 1860 to late 1869 or early 1870. Your cancel should be 25mm and was used from about March 3, 1867 to about August 14, 1869.

Thanks for the info Russ. It is 25mm. I guess it must be from 1869. Looks like from the range above, Aug 6 would be towards the end of when this postmark was used. Paul

Northernvirginiaguy: I don't know if you've researched your scanned cover, but the addressee, C.S. Bedell (a/k/a Charles S. Bedell) of Nyack, NY was an Assayer for the State of New York back in the day which could well explain the cover.

By the way, the town of Mountain City had a population of up to 800 back in 1860. In fact, here's a quote about its post office:

Quote:
The Mountain City post office was one of the earliest in Colorado territory, established in January, 1860. It lasted nine years before being moved to Central City.

More information is at this link, including some interesting period photographs:
