I have over 70 Penny Red covers, and the longest one is 5.5 inches long. I have not searched hard for small ones, these were at my finger tips. The modern one with the stamp missing was just from a Thank You card.

My smallest (top) is 3.25 x 4.25. Also added another small one an inch wider (bottom) with some interesting markings if anyone can interpret. My guess is the red crayon is for $9 money order???

Some more from my 'tiny' cover collection

The above, including the Titus cover, are under 4"

My tiny collection is for cover and postcards less than 4", these are longer at 4 1/4" but I liked them so they made it in...

A couple of tiny postcards...

Smaller one above is 2 1/2"

Don

For a modern cover, Don, WE HAVE A WINNER it seems. That should not have been accepted for mailing due to size. Great cover, well card, in spite of over payment. It is a wonderful piece of 21st Century postal history.

Nice covers Casey Magoo. I'll have a rummage through mine and see what the smallest is.

Here is another one for the thread. This 3 1/8' x 2 1/8' cover was mailed to Mr. Claud B. Goodlett of Atlanta, Georgia with the sender unaware that Mr. Goodlett (1884-1965) had moved to Travelers Rest (spelled Travellers Rest on the CDS), S.C.

Unfortunately the CDS of the duplex cancel did not fit on the envelope, thus not revealing the sender's location. The letter did move through Walhalla, S.C., perhaps on the same day (September 21, 1907) it arrived in Travelers Rest.

Check out these little beauties. The one of the left is 3" wide by a smidge over 2" tall.
Each envelop has a letter inside!

I like the ones with letters! I picked up these two tiny covers and one had a tiny invitation.

Very cool, Greg. Maybe we should start a post titled 'strangest letter in envelope.' #128578;
