Phil I'm by no means an expert when it comes to printers or scanners or anything else for that matter but IMO the scanner should work with or without ink. Here is another famous Italian musician for you Phil. Sorry not a composer but the great conductor Arturo Toscanini Scott 948 |

Charles-François Gounod (17 June 1818 – 17 October 1893) was a French composer best known for his Ave Maria as well as his operas Faust and Roméo et Juliette.Interestingly his piano piece "Funeral March of a Marionette" was used for the theme music of the 1950s Tv show Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
Scott B174 Scott B131 Emmanuel Chabrier(January 18, 1841 – September 13, 1894) was also a French Romantic composer and pianist. Both stamps were issued during the Vichy regime. Notice that they are inscribed FRANCE and Postes FRANCAISES instead of RF (REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE) which was the practice before and after the fall of Petain's government. |

Vasily Pavlovich Solovyov-Sedoi (1907-1979) was a Russian composer of classical music. Originally named Solovyov, when he entered the Russian "Composer's Union" he added the suffix "Sedoi", meaning grey, to avoid confusion with another composer with the same name. Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Solovyov-Sedoi, designed by Pjotr Bendel, engraved by Lidiya Fedorovna Majorova, and issued by Russia (USSR) on April 25, 1982, Scott No. 5036, Zagorski No. 5217. - nethryk |
