Crouse27 - Thanks! You make some excellent points, and I couldn't agree with you more. The artistry involved in both stamp design and (particularly) in engraving is my main interest in stamp collecting.

Here is an image of a colorful stamp depicting a circus act involving horses, printed by lithography, and issued by Germany on March 11, 1992 to commemorate the centenary of the death of Ernst Jakob Renz (1815-1892), founder of Circus Renz, a 19th century German circus company, Scott No. 1740.
