It's being reported on other stamp-related websites that the Waves of Color Stamps CANNOT be soaked, as they will disintegrate when doing so.
Here's my post from "that other site." I was pleased to receive one of those bubble-wrap envelopes in the mail today with a $5 Waves stamp nicely cancelled. First one I've seen. Not the kind of envelope that lends itself to cut squares so I though I would give soaking a try. A really, really bad idea.
After about 20 min in tepid water the "stamp" floated off the adhesive layer (well, mostly). The "stamp" layer was tissue paper thin and turned to orange paper mâché, literally dissolving before my eyes. How disappointing. I guess I should have done a little research first. :-(

Considering you could buy those mint stamps for $18.00 face value and since they are present-day stamps you could have them cancelled at the post office with a contemporaneous date cancel, should you desire to do it, I see little reason why anyone would want to acquire them used for a price above face value.
But then again, we all know stranger things have happened in world of on-line auctions for stamps! |

I'm Matt.2! I've found there is strong demand for used sets. I've been using them on various packages and asking for their return. At this rate, it's basically free postage. I imagine it will settle down eventually.

The stamps are beautiful however I agree with what was said about focusing the hope that collectors will buy them since they serve no other real purpose. As much as I like them I will never see one in Mint because I won't pay the P.O. price for them. |

I see they are still selling for a good price used on ebay by different selelrs names. Those above cancels are great. I want to look into collecting them also and got distracted by all of the different Canada recent cancels. Sigh. Time management is needed here by me! Case Study: Waves of Color, a recent November 2013 article on AIGA, the American Institute of Graphic Arts website, about the design process these complicated stamps went through. https://www.aiga.org/case-study-waves-of-color/I like the mention that the $10 stamp has metallic ink included on it. |

Glad I don't collect new releases anymore or I would have to shovel out the money to get them, despite what I think of them. . -IBFS |
