Canada 2014 - the 100 year anniversary of the opening of the Royal Ontario Museum in 1914.
Stamps from the souvenir sheet:

Two different <P> Permanent-denomination (2014 - 85c each) stamps, issued in a se-tenant, self-adhesive, 10-stamp booklet format, plus two Permanent se-tenant stamps as part of water-activated gum, souvenir sheet, with different perforations than the self-adhesive versions, and a souvenir sheet FDC (First Day Cover), all issued on April 14, 2014.

Note: perforations not measured by me yet.

All stamps using lithograohy printing in five colours.
Tullis Russell Coatings paper (C). Traffic-light, color dots on SS sheet:

The First Day Cancel (postmark) is from Toronto, Ontario (ON) showing, along with the traffic-light, colour-dots, I think partially a combination of Ionic-type of capital voluting, top of a pillar of Grecian design.

FDOI cancel shown with a pic from Wikipedia of Ionic capitals.

Two matching postcards (not shown by me) were also issued, showing magnified versions of the stamps, with printed-on endicia (indicia) stamps on their obverse.

Stamps have only a three-sided fluorescent tagging, not measured be me yet, around the outer edges of the se-tenant pair; one side, the inner side of the stamp pair, being blank or tagent absent.

Being a natural history buff myself, I think this is one of Canada's more fascinating stamp issues.

What are all these foreign, mysterious archaeological artifacts, ancient bones of creatures long dead, past remembering, statues of people or deities revered by other people in far away lands?

Now kept in the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, World Cultures and Natural History to surprise you!.

Further details of objects shown to be scanned and shown later, hopefully with labels and additional research into them or links.

Not all objects, for instance, on the souvenir sheet, are named in official documents yet, I am thinking.

I have noticed that a pair of these stamps, used and cancelled with ordinary slash or bar cancels, sold on ebay recently for $1.50 plus shipping. People seems to like the designs on these stamps and souv. sheet and FDC. Everything better with a first day cancel of course.

I scanned the full booklet cover, opened, to show that the back continues on into the front to show the glass design or, more accurately, Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, shown also on the backgrounds of the two se-tenant stamps themselves.

ROM Royal Ontario Museum: Michael Lee_Chin Crustal 30 million dollar gift. https://www.rom.on.ca/en/about-us/r...chin-crystal

Quote:
The Lee-Chin Crystal is part of Renaissance ROM, the Museum's renovation and expansion project. Considered to be one of the most challenging construction projects in North America for its engineering complexity and innovative methods, the Lee-Chin Crystal is composed of five interlocking, self-supporting prismatic structures that co-exist but are not attached to the original ROM building, except for the bridges that link them.

You are welcome.

I am enjoying the slow hunting down of information for the objects on the stamps, strange though some may be to me.

Hopefully I will be able to explain some of theme and give links for more info.

Talking about the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal :

Quote:
Inspired by the ROM's unique mandate - to build bridges of understanding and appreciation for the world's diverse cultures and precious natural environments . . .

This is a beautiful comment on the Museum's mandate or reason for showing items. A world class effort.
