Help Jan-Simon ! Am unfamiliar with the TPG Post..looks like the postage has been prepaid..the stamp though obviously Dutch does not say Nederland ..what can you tell us about it ???

Is that just a label from Royal Dutch Post indicating postage has been paid? Some more examples...

My mistake, I got Royal Dutch and TNT/TPG mixed up.

what does TPG and TNT mean?

If I understand the business correctly, TPG owns TNT Post.

The TNT comes from the original founder's company Thomas Nationwide Transport.

I believe TPG is short for TNT Post Group.

let's see... a lot of things have been said already. Most statements are correct but others are not entirely correct. The confusion is understandable as there have been many namechanges in the past 20 years.
Until the 1980s we had one state owned company for Post, Telephone and Telegraphs: PTT. It was split into two companies: PTT Post and Koninklijke PTT Nederland (KPN). The latter was the telephone part of PTT and first was 100% owner of PTT Post.
Later both companies became private and in the 1990s PTT Post bought the originally Australian company TNT. The name of the new company became TPG - TNT Post Group. The Dutch postal service was then renamed TPG Post. A couple of years later TPG became TNT and TPG Post was renamed once more to TNT Post, which is their current name. So TPG does not own TNT Post, it cannot as it does not exist anymore. TNT which is the successor of TPG is the owner of TNT Post.

Royal Dutch is the name commonly used for the Dutch part (60%) of Royal Dutch/Shell ("Shell oil") but it can also apply to Royal Dutch Mail, which is in fact TNT Post. Yes, I said it was complicated.

Now for the shown stamps: they are special stamps issued for use by companies only. Sometimes these companies want to make their massmailings look more personal, more than just a "Port Betaald" cancel or ATM label and they can use these stamps / labels to do so. They are sold by TNT Post to these companies for special reduced prices and as they are almost always used on massmailings they are machine-applied and the cut perforations as shown on the scan by Phil are common. The philatelic service sells them as well (they sell everything if necessary) in strips like on the scan by khj. They cannot be used by private consumers.
the NvPH catalogue has a listing of them, if my memory serves me well.

P.S. these stamps should not be confused with the stamps issued by various regional mailcompanies. The "Port Betaald" stamps are official stamps, for use in the entire country.
