Really glad to run across this thread today. I had always known about Slania's connection to Sweden's stamps, but was surprised when sorting through some Danish stamps last week and discovered that 60-70% of those had C.Z Slania attributions as well. The initial thread mentioned 29 countries that Slania did work for- anybody have a list of those? |

The Youth of Agde (l'Éphèbe d'Agde) is a bronze statue discovered in 1964, on the bed of the river Herault on the south-eastern coast of France, by Denis Fanquerle and divers from the Agde Marine Archaeological Research Group. It is probably associated with an ancient Greek shipwreck. The Youth of Agde (l'Éphèbe d'Agde), engraved by Czeslaw Slania and issued by France on May 15, 1982:

Great stamp by Slania, backroads, and thanks for sharing. There is a Polish stamp shows Slania holding this Swedish stamp. Prince Louis II (1870 – 1949) was The Prince of Monaco from 1922 until 1949. His daughter was Princess Charlotte of Monaco, Duchess of Valentinois (Charlotte Louise Juliette Grimaldi de Monaco; 1898 – 1977). From 1922 until 1944, she was the Hereditary Princess of Monaco, heir presumptive to the throne. Here are two stamps depicting Prince Louis II and Princess Charlotte paintings by the Hungarian painter Philip Alexius de László (1869 – 1937), engraved by Czeslaw Slania and issued by Monaco on November 5, 1981:

During years 1982-1989 Monaco issued a long series contains seven sets of two stamps each called "Monaco in the Belle Epoque" show paintings by Hubert Clerrisi. The Belle Epoque (French for "Beautiful Epoch") is the term often given to a period of French and European history, usually dated to between 1880 and the outbreak of World War I in 1914. All stamps engraved by Czeslaw Slania. I will post all sets except the first issued 1982 which I still missing. Here is the second set issued in 1983: Monaco Beach in 1902: Paris Caffe in 1905: |
