"Dance in a Main Room", by the Danish painter Emil Krause (1871-1945), SS issued for use in Faroe Islands on September 22, 2003 to mark Slania's 100th stamp for Faroe Island. The stamp area engraved by Slania and the SS's margin was printed lithography:

A set of four stamps shows birds of the Baltic was jointly issued by Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, all designed by Martin Mörk and each engraved by different engraver. Slania engraved the stamp shows the Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa).

Here's SG Y1802 (Spec UC20), Czeslaw Slania's engraving of Arnold Machin's famous portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, issued in 1999 and printed first by Enschedé and later by De La Rue. (My example is from De La Rue.)



It looks like a Scandinavian definitive stamp, but it isn't!

The other values in the set are £1.50 red, £2.00 dull blue and £5.00 brown. I don't think the portrait is Slania's best work, but the engraving of the value is both excellent and characteristic.
