graphis, I really like those preliminary designs since
it gives you an insight on what went on in the production
of these stamps.

Is there a link to the Postal Museum of France ?

Souvenir sheet of Charity Cinderellas in Aid of Musicians
Produced in conjunction with the 3rd Philatelic Eposition of Paris 1944
The images depict scenes from famous French Operas, each stamp engraved by a who's who of French Engravers at that time.
There were other SS issued:Aid to Artists in 1942 and Aid to Intellectuals issued in 1943...if someone has them maybe they can post it here.
Remember in 1944 Paris was occupied so I assume that resources for engraving and printing were limited which counts for the qulaity or lack of you see here.

Forgive the reproduction of the sheet..best the optimizer can do.

Engravers:Piel/Cottet

Engravers:Degorce/Feltesse

Engravers: Serres/Munier

Engravers:Dufresne/Cheffer

Preliminary design (Postal Museum of France) and stamp issued 1n 1936
of Jean Jaurès:a French Socialist leader. Initially an Opportunist Republican, he evolved into one of the first social democrats, becoming the leader, in 1902, of the French Socialist Party, which opposed Jules Guesde's revolutionary Socialist Party of France. The two parties merged in 1905 in the French Section of the Workers' International. An antimilitarist, Jaurès was assassinated at the outbreak of World War I, and remains one of the main historical figures of the French Left.
