Antoine Dezarrois (1864 - 1934) engraved the 1930 3 franc definitive. A stamp was issued in June1937 for the 3rd century of the publication
of Rene Descartes' " Discours de la Méthode " but the stamp
was inscribed Discours sur la Méthode
The two stamp variations can be seen on page 1 of this thread posted by Lithograving. |

These modern French intaglio printings have lost the "feel" of the artists' touch. They appear mechanical, computer-assisted, and cold.
The thread on Italian engravers went into some detail on these changes. It is sad to see this "progress". |
