Alfred Fischer *1926 engraved stamps for Austria, Zaire, Liechtenstein, Vatican City,
Luxembourg & San Marino between the years 1965 – 1981.

Fisher's first Austrian stamp was issued for the ITU Centenary.

Nefe worked for the Austrian State Printer until 1996.

As you see from this detail there is not much engraving on these
stamps.
Over the years there was less and less engraving and
around 2010 the Austrian State Printer printed the last engraved
stamps and finally stopped printing stamps altogether.

Florian I am glad that you enjoy the stamps as much as I do.
The Austrian engravers during the sixties & seventies produced
some of the finest engraved stamps ever issued.
By 1970 the Austrian State Printer (OeSD) had a group of
fairly young but excellent engravers available.

Werner Pfeiler born 1941, first stamp 1969

The master Rudolf Toth was in his prime
and Georg Wimmer still engraved the odd stamp.
Also even though Otto Stefferl was mainly a
designer he did engrave a few.

Some of the engravers here also worked on banknotes
for the Austrian National Bank.
