A distance view does not tell very well, but this castle has nice round towers on its corners. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlech_Castle And this stamp was one of the first set with "silhouette" portrait of Queen, adapted by David Gentleman from coinage.

Clos de Vougeot is a wall-enclosed vineyard in the Burgundy wine region in eastern France. The chateau includes a 12th century winery built by monks from the Abbey of Citeaux and a Renaissance style residential building added in 1551.

Château d'Amboise is located in the Loire Valley in central France, built on a promontory over looking the Loire river. The castle was initially built in the 11th century and expanded into a royal residence in the 15th century.

Kronborg Castle has a kind of peaceful appearance from distance, so I am surprised when I see the picture of its moat. The first castle was build in 15th century and transformed as a fort in 1585. It is refered as the stage of Shakespeare's play Hamlet.

Château de Hautefort is a French château and gardens located in the town of Hautefort in south-central France. The castle was reconstructed and transformed into a palatial country residence in the 17th century.

Château de Langeais is built on a promontory created by Roumer River at the opening to the Loire Valley. Much of today's structures were rebuilt in the 15th century in a Gothic style, with further restoration in the 19th century..

Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye is a former royal palace 19 km west of Paris. The bui;ding was constructed and expanded in the 12th and 13th centuries. The oldest parts of the current château were reconstructed by Francis I in 1539.

Château de Sully-sur-Loire is a castle, converted to a palatial seigneurial residence, situated in Centre-Val de Loire. It was built at the end of 14th century and was modified due to repeated destruction and reconstruction since 18th century.

Château de Vitré is a medieval castle in the town of Vitré, situated on a promontory overlooking the Vilaine valley. The castle was built in the 11th century, followed by extensions in the 14th and 15th centuries.

Château de Bazoches is located in the modern region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in central France. The original castle was built in 1180 and was extensively upgraded in 1673-1675.

Château de Gien is a historic manor on the River Loire in Gien, Centre-Val de Loire. It was built in the 15th century for Anne of France. The building was repaired after WWII and houses the International Museum of Hunting since 1952.

Château d'Esquelbecq is located in the Nord department in France. It was built in 1606 to the site of ancient fort from the 9th century. The castle with eight turrets is surrounded by moat and accessed by two bridges.

Château de Rambouillet is located in the Île-de-France region in northern France. It was originally a fortified manor dating back to 1368 and was gradually transformed into a residence. The site is surrounded by gardens and an avenue of cypress trees.
