France Tourism March 9, 2009 Palace of the Popes in Avignon is the largest Gothic palace in the world. Construction, reconstruction, and expansion of the palace took plane between the 13th and 17th centuries. The Palais is today a historical and architectural landmark and primarily a tourist attraction.  |

France 1993 Tourism Château de Montbéliard is located on a rock outcrop that overlooks the town of Montbéliard in the Doubs département. The complex was first constructed in the 13th century. Several buildings were demolished and rebuilt during the 18th and 19th centuries.  |
