Pshann, yours is a 36. There is no 35 for this type of device.

No Rod, the D19s are the last duplexes issued.

The D18s & D19s were only brought in as replacements for earlier devices. The last 35 was a D17 type; the recorded dates of use I have are 23/9/1895 to 15/9/1903.

That was replaced by the first single line datestamp (non-duplex) which has a EKD of 8/7/1905.

The gap I'm sure could be narrowed

Fives and sixes on NSW postmarks, numerals included, are the bane of my existence

Interesting focus,
That flat topped 36 still has me bemused,
I would have lost a sizeable bet that was a "modified" 35

I have often rued the fact, there is scarce evidence on the
way these cancelling hammers were produced,
made in Britain? and were they tooled steel or moulded / molded.

Made in New South Wales Rod.

Almost every handstamp would've been made in Sydney, but there's a few odd ball items that may have been local productions.

Apologies for posting off topic,
Thought it better here than a new thread.

Slogan? type CDS
"Posted in circular box. GPO"
I do not recall seeing this before.
Would that be "circular" as in magazine material, or one of these?
What reason behind pmk? mis-posted mail?
