Fritz, your 3c stamps are so nice, that, if they weren't cancelled, I'd think you bought them at the post office in person in the 1850s !

Nic collection, HWDear. Thanks for showing it. Are you plating any of them?

Ty IV #9, bottom row stamp. Recut once at top, not recut at bottom.

The bottom design overall looks strong & detailed because its a bottom row stamp.

Greetings all. I'm looking for confirmation that this stamp is 59L7. Not a lot of reference copies out there to compare it with. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Harper1249

Harper1249 - It's close but I don't think it's 59L7 Will post compressed scans in a bit.

Harper1249 -

This is your stamp.

This is Chase

This is a reference copy I have access to.

Your outer left frame line wiggles a bit more than the other copies but that could be that your copy wasn't flat when scanned. Your right outer frame line slightly differs too but again it could be that your stamp wasn't flat. Could you send me a good (1200dpi) scan so that I can take a better look?

I would like to plate this stamp. It looks like type II.

Any suggestions on which plate to start searching?

rlsny, yes it is Type II. The blur along the top is an indicator of Plate 2. There are other specific tells among the plating marks, but let us know what you find.

The funny low-placed guide dots at UR indicate 9R column plate 2 to me usually.
