Not the best images, but 2 I've picked up from overseas sellers this fall. I have always enjoyed searching for interesting 10c Washington varieties.
Scott #35 with inscription - nicely centered and lightly cancelled
Scott #35 double transfer

Caper, have you looked up the DT in Neinken's book on the Ten-Cent?

Correct, Caper. Page 139. Neinken states that this is the only DT position on Plate 2.

I think the Ten-Cent 1855-59 deserves a little love in this thread.

I'm glad Dudley wrote this - I fully agree.

Here is a #35 pair I acquired that makes me smile:

I proudly displayed the #38 below in a previous post because of the nice centering and the striking blue cancel. It had a clean PSAG cert, but I wanted to be sure, so I sent it off to the PF. I've posted images of both certificates. What a surprise.

I sent it back to the dealer I purchased it from for a full refund, but it is discouraging to see demonstrated, once again, how careful one has to be if you are collecting higher grade classics. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone trying to pawn it off again, so be aware!

Yikes. I'm happy you had recourse.

I guess you don't have the stamp anymore, but margins-added is often visible more easily from the reverse, or in fluid. I would have been interested to see. I agree that it seems like a pretty bad miss.

edit: yea the blue ink in the margins, very much so at left certainly does not appear to match.

Really really sad but not very surprising regarding the #38 with a recent, clean PSAG cert. I was shown the light a long time ago with their certs. I have been warning collectors ever since. The disgusting part is that it never should have gone unnoticed for more than 30 seconds with the first expertizer. Unfortunately, when crap like this happens, buyers like Lorry lose all faith in anybody but the PF. That is good for the PF and certain members of the expert class but not really for anybody else.
