Lao Constitutional Monarchy – 1964

A constitutional monarchy is a form of government in which a King reigns with limitations to his power along with a governing body as parliament. The prime minister is the head of the government, appoints the ministers and consults with the King. The Franco-Lao treaty of 1953 gave Laos independence and established the Lao constitutional monarchy with Sisavang Vong as the King and prince Souvanna Phouma as prime minister.
