Great thread Eli.
Many of these Laotian stamps are a pleasure to look at.
Amazing what the French Printer ( IMPRIMERIE DES TIMBRES-POSTE - PARIS)
achieved in combining 3 or 6 inks on one or two plates on one
pass through the presses.
This was similar to the Giori process but developed by the French Printer
using Chambon printing presses.

Here is an old thread were we discussed the methods used to produce
these multicoloured engraved masterpieces.

Thank you very much, lithograving, for your words. Indeed, Lao engraved stamps are great and very attractive. I still remember my feelings and excitement when first time in my life I saw Lao engraved stamps, the Malaria set of 1962. It was long before I knew the term "engraved" or other similar terms.

Thanks for the link to the thread about multicolour engraved stamps. I read most of it and learn a lot about the process of printing which used to print many Lao stamps. I think there is a lot of information there that could be summarized to a comprehensive article.

Thanks also for the great scans you and other posted there. So sad among the best scan are several covered by Photobucket marks. I would love to post there several Lao stamps, but I have no information about the exact method used for each stamp.

Yes that photobucket disaster ruined many posts and whole threads.
Many members used photobucket image hosting because one could download
much sharper images than was allowed by this site which was then limited to 100kb.
Now of course SCF allows up to 300kb which is adequate.
Myself I hated that ugly photobucket watermark on all my images
so I deleted my PB account.

Subsequently during 2018 and 2019 I uploaded again all my missing images
on the Collecting by Engraver thread and many other threads by using this
forum here http://goscf.com/f/58
Don (51studebaker) was a great help in this and I miss that guy.

25th Anniversary of the United Nations Organization - 1970

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of UN organization, the Kingdom of Laos issued this set of stamps depicts Buddhist characters in front of UN headquarter, New York, USA. Both designs symbolize the UNO main goal – to prevent wars and bring peace to the world.

Walking Buddha statue from Wat Phra Keo, Vientiane in a Mudra representing calming wars between peoples:

Nang Thorani, mother of earth. According to a legend, Buddha sat down under a Bodhi tree and vowed not to get up until attaining enlightenment, but he was tempted by the Mara's (devil) army. Nang Thorani appeared, squeezed water from her hair braid and drowned Mara's army. The water symbolizes the pure power eliminating the evil:
