At Phoenix today, lot 1116, the numeral 2096 of East Guyong will open at $850. This will invoice at close to $1K.
The stamp is the example shown in Hugh's book and at that price, it's probably the only known copy.
Outlasting West Guyong for 35 years, East Guyong closed in 1957.
This area, along with Byng, are rich in minerals. Byng is also known as the Cornish Settlement.
http://www.celticcouncil.org.au/cor.../byngtwo.htmThe highest price I'm aware of is $825, and that was the invoice, not the hammer price. If anyone is aware of a higher sale (at auction) please let us know!
